How to read prescription for reading glass

Latin terms inside prescription of eyeglass or spectacles

1. Oculus Dexter (OD) = right eye
2. Oculus Sinister (OS) = left eye
3. Vitrum sphere = The amount of lens power, measured in diopters. If the number appearing under this heading has a minus sign (–), you are nearsighted; if the number has a plus sign (+), you are farsighted.
   3a. Pro Longin Quitat = sphere measurement for sight distance
   3b. Pro Propin Quitat = sphere measurement (add) for sight close
5. Vitrum cylinder = The amount of lens power for astigmatism. If nothing appears in this, then you have no astigmatism.

For reading glass = Pro Longin Quitat +  Pro Propin Quitat 

Example:

Pro Longin Quitat = +0.5; Pro Propin Quitat = +1 

Reading glass = +0.5 (+) +1 = +1.5
